Social Media and the Battle for Public Opinion

The battle for public opinions effect on society

In today's society there is so much within our reach. People can share, like, communicate so much quicker and more efficiently. This includes adds and campaigns. This has also created new ideas such as "catfishing" and "fake news"

In the realm of connection online "catfishing" is the term that describes someone pretending to be someone else to gain something from you. Catfishing is most commonly known in the romantic term where people are pretending to be someone else to gain someones attention or attraction.

As misinformation continues to grow on online platforms certain messages continue to grow. This includes racism, sexism and hate spreading on those platforms. This has allowed for misinformation to be spread in a lot of cases, this includes political platforms and simple things in the news.

As technology continues to increase and evolve there has been little effort to better the frame work surrounding those platforms regarding ethical areas. In order to better the technology and efforts the framework around technology needs to be reworked.
